You have a tree you like, but parts of it are a problem. A heavy limb hangs over the bedroom roof. A dead branch points right at the car. The canopy has gotten so wide it is touching the power drop. These are exactly the trees a good pruning saves. Removing the whole tree is overkill. Our tree and landscaping crew trims and prunes from $299.
This work is safety-driven. A hazardous tree does not always need to come down. Often it just needs the right cuts in the right places.
Signs You Need Tree Trimming & Pruning
Dead branches in the upper canopy. Cracks where a limb meets the trunk. Limbs growing into siding, gutters, or roof shingles. Branches rubbing on power lines. A canopy that has gotten so heavy on one side the tree leans. Sucker shoots running up the trunk. Storm-broken limbs hung up in the crown that did not finish falling. Any of these is a sign to bring someone out.
Putting it off makes the problem grow. Dead wood gets brittle. Cracks open wider every storm. A leaning canopy puts more stress on the same side until something fails. If the issue is local to a few branches, trimming is the right call. If the trunk is rotten, the lean is bad, or the whole canopy is dead, it is a removal conversation. We tell you which one applies during the free walkthrough.
Our Tree Trimming & Pruning Options
The work usually breaks into three types. The first is clearance pruning: lifting the lower canopy off the roof, the driveway, or the power line. The second is deadwood and hazardous branch removal, which is both a health measure and a safety measure. Dead limbs harbor rot and pests, and they fall on their own. We climb in, identify every dead or compromised branch, and take them out cleanly. This is the work that prevents the late-night call about a limb on the car.
The third is crown reduction. Crown reduction means selectively removing parts of the outer canopy to reduce height, improve balance, or clear power lines and rooflines. It is not topping. The cuts are picked tree by tree during the free estimate, never one method for every tree. A young silver maple needs a different plan than a 60-year-old oak, and we treat them that way.
If we look at the tree and decide pruning will not actually fix the problem, we say so. The next step is either a Tree Health Assessment to see if treatment will help, or a scheduled Tree Removal. If a storm just hit and you have broken limbs hanging right now, that is an Emergency Tree Removal call, not a scheduled trim.
Tree Trimming & Pruning for North Canton Homes
Northeast Ohio winters are hard on trees. Ice loads break limbs. Wet snow flattens canopies. Wind events off Lake Erie strip out weak wood. Across Stark, Summit, Medina, Wayne, Portage, Tuscarawas, and Mahoning counties, the same species show up in trouble year after year: silver maple, ash, pin oak, Bradford pear. North Canton, Canton, Akron, Massillon, Wooster, and Cuyahoga Falls neighborhoods are full of them.
A lot of our trimming work in this area is preventive. We get called before the storm by people who have learned the hard way. Pruning out dead and weak wood ahead of winter is far cheaper than dealing with the failure after.
